Allen and Pinnix Will Move To 510 Glenwood On July 25

Grubb & Ellis|Thomas Linderman Graham, has announced that Allen and Pinnix, P.A. has leased 11,537 square feet of office space at 510 Glenwood Avenue, located in downtown Raleigh’s Glenwood South district. Firm move coordinator Anna Choi indicated that the firm will begin operations from its new offices on Monday July 25. The firm will relocate from 333 Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, expanding by 3,700 square feet.Noel Allen, President of Allen and Pinnix, said: “Our firm has grown steadily since Jack Pinnix and I started it in 1977. We now have six Partners plus five other lawyers, seven paralegals, and support staff. 510 Glenwood is a superb space, with convenient parking; as we continue to grow, this space will accommodate our growth.”
Lee Clyburn, principal, senior vice president, of Grubb & Ellis|Thomas Linderman Graham represented the tenant in the transaction. William Allen, principal, senior vice president, also of Grubb & Ellis|Thomas Linderman Graham, represented the landlord, Burcam Capital II, LLC.
Constructed in 2000, 510 Glenwood is a 274,000-square-foot mixed-used building that includes 44,000 square feet of Class A office space, 23,000 square feet of high-end restaurant space and 36 residential condominium units.

Allen and Pinnix is sad to report the death of Patricia Ryder, our dear friend and long time colleague.Patricia "Trish" Ryder was born 13 August 1935 to the late Frederick and Helen McGrath in Withington, Manchester, England. She passed away 3 May 2011 in Raleigh surrounded by family members. She attended Sts John Fisher and Thomas More Primary School and Loreto College, Manchester.
Trish moved to the United States in 1960 and became a naturalized citizen in 1970. She began her federal civil service career at Minot AFB, ND, and worked in Rapid City, SD and in the Washington, DC area. She retired in 1997 from the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force and moved to Raleigh to be close to her daughters. Retirement lasted six weeks and she accepted a position with Allen & Pinnix, PA. She continued to work until she became ill.
Trish was a member of St. Raphael Archangel Catholic Church and a long-time member of Beta Sigma Phi International.
A Requiem Mass will be held Monday, 9 May 2011, at 12:00 pm at St. Raphael Archangel Catholic Church, 5801 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will be immediately following the Mass at St. Raphael the Archangel Memorial Garden and Columbarium. Guests are invited to join the family for a reception in the Lewis Room following the interment. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to consider a contribution to Hospice of Wake County or a charity of their choice.
Trish was preceded in death by her parents; nephew Christopher Constable; brother-in-law Greg Skorzewski; and sisters-in-law Caroline McGrath and Veronica McGrath.
Trish is survived by her two daughters and sons-in law: Cathy and Daniel Gonzalez of Wake Forest, and Christine and David Prince of Raleigh; one granddaughter: Olivia Gonzalez of Wake Forest; siblings and spouses: Marion and Ralph Hope of Southport, England; Sister Thomas More, IBVM, (Stella McGrath) of Manchester, England; Joan and John Constable of Manchester, England; Anne and Jerry Schafer of Mountain Home, ID; Terry Skorzewski of Manchester, England; Helen and Colin Burns of Port Elizabeth, South Africa; Sam and Maureen McGrath of Manchester, England; Bernard McGrath of Stockport, England; Tom McGrath of Manchester, England; and Marge and Jim Newbrook of Stockport, England; and scores of nieces and nephews throughout the United States, England, South Africa, Sweden, and New Zealand.
The family would like to thank the following for their continued support during her short illness: The staff of UNC Cancer Center; Trish's team members from Hospice of Wake County; Members of the St. Raphael Health Care Ministry; the partners and staff of Allen and Pinnix, PA; and the members of Laureate Alpha Lambda, Beta Sigma Phi.

The North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization has published its 2011 directory of Board Certified Legal Specialists certified by the North Carolina State Bar. Allen and Pinnix and C.A. Aziz, P.A. in Charlotte are the only two firms with 2 Board certified immigration specialists.The Board of Legal Specialization is a board of the North Carolina State Bar that certifies North Carolina lawyers as legal specialist in several areas of law. The purpose of certification is to help members of the public in selecting legal counsel by identifying lawyers who have demonstrated special knowledge, skill, and proficiency in certain areas of law.

Pinnix Named North Carolina Business "Mover and Shaker"

North Carolina Business Leader magazine has recognized Allen and Pinnix’s Jack Pinnix as one of it’s 2010 NC’s Movers & Shakers.According to the publisher North Carolina Movers & Shakers are leaders who have positive impact on their organizations and also play a significant role in improving their communities.
Pinnix’s selection was among members of law firms with “ broad range of expertise in industries vital to North Carolina’s growth.”
The citation notes: Jack Pinnix, one of the first immigration attorneys in NC, had dedicated over 30 years of his practice to immigration and nationality issues. He has been involved in complex cases involving deportation /removal and asylum on both the administrative and appellate levels. A nationally recognized authority on immigration law and policy, he served as the national president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), 2002-2003; and to its Carolinas Chapter. He has been listed in every edition of Best Lawyers in America since the immigration category was included (1991) and in Super Lawyers five years in a row (2006-2010). He also has taught at schools of laws of NC Central University, Elon University, and Duke University.
Lynn Calder Appointed to Immigration Law Committee

The North Carolina Bar Association has appointed Allen and Pinnix attorney Lynn Calder to the Immigration Law Committee for upcoming fiscal year where she will serve as the committee chair.The Immigration Law Committee offers a forum for immigration and naturalization issues, as well as an opportunity for attorneys, legal assistants and law students with an interest in immigration law, to network and share common concerns, interests and pursuits.
Lynn Calder, is a Board Certified Specialist in Immigration Law. In addition to her family and business immigration practice, she has successfully represented clients in removal or deportation proceedings in the Immigration Court in Georgia, Virginia and North Carolina.
Ms. Calder brings dedication, expertise and determination to every case she handles. Because Ms. Calder’s unique skills and her understanding of the complex issues related to removal or deportation proceedings, she is routinely consulted by immigration attorneys throughout the United States who refer to her their most difficult cases.
The success and productivity of the North Carolina Bar Association depend upon the work of its committees, task forces, and sections. Service on Bar Association committees is especially significant in the Bar’s efforts to serve the needs of our members, the profession, and the public.
